IFTTT for SEO – 5 IFTTT Benefits for Your Online Business

IFTTT tool has been around since 2010 and has steadily been gaining popularity ever since. Many people have used IFTTT for SEO processes to automate their social media channel and keep tracking their product progress.

What is IFTTT?

IFTTT stands for ‘if this then that’. IFTTT lets you connect the apps and devices you use every day, such as Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Email, and more. If an event happens (this) in one channel, it will trigger an action (that) within another one.

For example: If you post an article on your blog, you can automatically turn it into a post on Facebook. If you upload an image on Instagram, it can automatically be saved to Dropbox. If you arrive in Paris, you can automatically email yourself a map of the city.

You can browse on the IFTTT website for thousands of these recipes, or you can create your own unique recipe. IFTTT also work great on iOS and Android platforms.

The name of the game for SEO today is “natural links,” and social media is going to be an essential part of this shift moving forward. Social media helps give you inspire ideas and big data for the content you want to publish on your site. You have to be creative to try and produce a successful SEO strategy that doesn’t involve link building. In other words, the story is really this: You want to be able to determine the most interesting topics for your content so that readers will want to share and link back to your article, naturally.

With Google’s new encrypted data, and link building through guest blogging out of the question, turning to different tools and social media data is crucial. IFTTT is one of the best tools I’ve seen to put all of these needs into motion.

The ideas for recipes you can create truly seem endless. You have a lot of opportunities to collect data, but you have to know what kind of data would be most beneficial for you and your business. From an SEO standpoint, there are some ways you can use IFTTT for SEO progress to keep your advantage.

1. Tracking and alerts

Keeping track of blogs, social media, news sites, forums and other websites to monitor any mentions of your company is wasting a lot of time. Now you can spend your time running your business, and let IFTTT keep an eye out for you.

You can use IFTTT to track trends on social media, getting news from RSS feed, or even tracking mentions of brands in social media.

2. Get a hold on your content

If you publish content frequently, keeping records can be a painstaking, tedious task. Instead of listing when you’ve published each piece of content manually, let IFTTT automate your records for you.

For example, you can use IFTTT to organize your blog posts: Use an IFTTT recipe that adds all of your blog posts to a spreadsheet, included the headline, date published, and URL.

This method works for all other spreadsheet-related tasks, such as backup your contacts from your phone to an online spreadsheet or recording receipts from your Gmail to a Google spreadsheet.

3. Schedule social media campaigns – building backlinks – using IFTTT for SEO

Marketing on social media is an ongoing effort. You posted something on your Facebook, Twitter,… once does not mean people saw it.

You can use IFTTT to repost your content on a fixed period, so you can get more attention to your pages, which may not have been seen the first time around, or for your new followers to read.

4. Drive traffic

Driving traffic is very important to any online marketing effort, but not every company or business owner has resources and time to devote to increasing online visitors. Instead of getting an assistant for this task, IFTTT can automate the process for you.

You can use IFTTT to post on your Facebook page every time a new post appears on your blog. You can have another recipe for Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+,… Let IFTTT automates the process, and never worry about promoting your material through social media.

5. Instant cloud deployment

It is easy to save files and media to your favorite cloud storage provider when it’s located on your PC or mobile device. Saving files and media from websites? You have to download them to your device first. With IFTTT, you can skip that extra step and save files directly to your cloud services, such as Dropbox or Google Drive, straight from the Web.
